Grout McTavish Architecture was engaged to update and revise the Cultural Centre’s Museum archives and public gallery spaces. Originally built in 1998 this national Museum dedicated to Japanese Canadians history had outgrown its current collections and support spaces and required a new vision for the Centre. Our team worked with staff and exhibit programmers to develop a long range master plan that resulted in the reallocation of administrative spaces and public concourse areas to expand the current gallery and entrance spaces.
The final phase saw the construction of new flexible gallery spaces, a new resource centre and expanded archival areas with updated Museum Standard HVAC systems.
