Grout McTavish Architecture were engaged in 2005 by Trilogy Properties Ltd to undertake the management of the rezoning process, the consultant team and the development of a masterplan for an 800 acre parcel of land in the Village of Cumberland at the intersection of the Island Highway and the Comox Valley Parkway on Vancouver Island. The site was developed in 11 distinct zoning parcels, each with a specific mix of uses ranging from single and multi family residential, hotel, pedestrian oriented retail and commercial, industrial and destination car oriented retail. The rezoning process was completed successfully in 2010 and overall site servicing will commence in the near future and involved many public open houses, consultations and presentations to Cumberland Council. The masterplan responded extensively to environmental sensitivities of the site resulting in over 400 acres dedicated to nature and wildlife preserve.
