As a public responsibility to our City and our local merchants Grout McTavish Architecture undertook an internal study to develop temporary street retail markets based on our attraction and Expo master planning experience.

This sample study created a large-scale urban market on Vancouver’s main thoroughfare that would secure the perimeter of the avenue creating speciality zone of retail with gates separating blocks to create a comfortable shopping experience based on social distancing rules. The scheme was presented to various governmental and public bodies throughout the lower mainland and assisted municipal leaders in giving form to early ideas on how to assist local merchants while creating.
